Raff, Joachim (1822-1882)

Joachim Raff (1822–1882) was considered one of Germany’s leading composers in his time. However, today, the piece that is most often performed is 6 Morceaux, Op.85, No.3 Cavatina for Violin and Piano, while many of his other works are not played as frequently. That said, Raff composed many wonderful pieces. In chamber music, he wrote eight string quartets, some of which are exceptionally beautiful.
