String Quartet in d, KV 173 (Viennese Quartet No.6)

16 min.

composed by Mozart

It is the only one piece written in minor key among six Vienna Quartets. It consists of the following four movements. The movement IV is a chromatic fugue and magnificent. Mozart had studied counterpoint-music in Vienna and used fugues for the last movements of this piece and No.1 KV168. Please remember that the next string quartet, the famous Haydn Quartets No.1 KV.387 composed in 1782, also has a fugue in the last movement.
